Xande Gomes studied Game and Interactive Media Development in 2021. He know lives in Liverpool, UK working for a major game development company.

When and what did you study at the academy?
I studied at Academy of Digital Arts in 2021 within the Games and Multimedia Design course. At the time of looking for a place to study, I wasn't overly impressed with what other universities and colleges had to offer in the way of games design, and this included overseas institutions where I had been looking as well. When I entered ADA during the open day, there was a clear vision that aligned with what I had in my mind with what is expected within the games industry and that coincided with what I had researched and those I had networked with that were in the industry too. The questions and concerns I had were answered well and put my mind at ease that it was the right place for me. It was the perfect blend of practical to theoretical skill that I wanted from a game design course.
Where are you know?
I currently work in Liverpool for a company called Lucid Games working on an internal project that I am very excited and passionate about, I can't wait for everyone to see it when it launches. I came from a QA background originally, and have transitioned into Production and possibly Narrative Design in the future. My proudest projects that I have had a hand in to date are Spider-Man 2, Star Wars: Jedi Survivor and NBA2K23
What is the main thing you took away from studying at ADA?
There's a few things so I'll try to be as brief as possible -
What advice would you give a young student starting at the academy?
I think really just everything from the last points. Work hard, love what you do and keep asking questions. You never know who's paying attention and of course, as always, keep that portfolio up to date, especially if you're looking to get your foot in the door!
