Alumni of the Game and Interactive Media Development course founded their own game development studio in September 2025. After working on their first own game title they now went public with their announcement trailer and an interview led by Tom Henderson on the influential website and game development channel Insider Gaming! Unlikely Heroes Studio was formed by several of our game course Alumni in September of 2025 after graduating in 2023 and participating in the Game Production Incubator for a year.
Combining all their knowledge and experience the team has been working on their first game title, Project Eclipse. This narrative-driven horror game will not go the typical route of jump scares and stereotypical design but feature a new type of monster that will actively learn from the player’s behaviour and change actively how it tries to outsmart the player.
Still being in its early development stage after only six months of production ‘Project Eclipse’ already looks very promising as the first trailer reveals.
So promising, in fact, that the influential game development channel Insider Gaming invited them to present the game and their team on their May releases special. Insider Gaming has become the channel where indie developers can present their titles and teams to investors and publishers.
In a 20 minutes interview the project’s team lead, Nathan Holmes, together with Kyle Le Roux, Reza Cloete, and Stefan Vorster answer questions about their game, the development process and other things.
