Design systems are what allow design teams to move fast without breaking things — a shared library of components, patterns, tokens, and documentation that ensures consistency across every surface of a product. In this course you'll learn the principles of design systems, from atomic design thinking through to component libraries, design tokens, and the governance structures that keep a system alive and useful over time. You'll work hands-on in Figma, building components with variants, auto layout, and documentation annotations that both designers and developers can rely on. In Week 2 you'll learn how to maintain and evolve a design system, handling deprecation, contribution models, and stakeholder alignment. You'll leave with a Certificate of Completion from the Academy of Digital Arts and a design system project demonstrating your ability to build scalable, documented design infrastructure.
In this course you will learn the following skills:
The course runs Mondays and Wednesdays from 6 pm to 8 pm. On Tuesdays there will be a check-in session with the lecturer.
Over the runtime of the course you will learn everything from scratch while being instructed by a lecturer.
